When I say top dress, I mean on top of a crop. Or whenever it is fit to drive into. You'll have to have someone with a row crop spreader. But should be doable. It is my understanding that zinc is no different then any other nutrients and the most is used in the later 1/2 or 1/3 of the plants life cycle. I'd say u still have plenty of time to apply zinc and have a successful crop.
