Subject: RE: Termination of Rye cover

NE Iowa
I've terminated it 2 weeks before planting or waited and sprayed it off the back of the planter. Seemed to work either way and which way I go depends on weather and height of the rye. Planting into rye taller then 2' scares me. I always add my residual chemicals and even though it ends up on the rye and not on the ground as long as you get a rain in the next week or so they seem to work. Last year I planted conventional corn into knee high rye. I sprayed roundup, atrazine, corvus, and generic dual off the back off the planter. That was the only spray pass of the year and corn was nice and clean.
