Subject: RE: too cold to plant?

NW Iowa. / SW Arizona
I've been wanting to demo a Kongsklide vertical tillage machine for awhile and had the opportunity to try one yesterday. I knew the ground wasn't fit as we had some rain recently but we have some rain in the forecast for the next week so thought I'd try it anyway.

I didn't go very far with the machine but did try it on some standing corn stalks, fall disc ripped corn stalks & soybeans stubble that had hog manure injected into it last fall. Just as I knew it would be the ground wasn't fit but did come to a very fast conclusion this ground is COLD and wet. I personally have no desire to put any seed in the ground especially with our forecast which is cooler weather coming & some precipitation.

This is for our neck of the woods and do realize you are much farther south them me. Your weather forecast does sound like our for next week however. Good luck with your decision.
