Oklahoma | Yes, basically keeping the pecans to harvest but taking out every other row and doing it in stages over 8-10 years. Some rows have smaller trees that will only make a rick but we have two areas that will come out down the road that are huge trees. I am thinking along the lines of what you mention, he can take all he wants but we have discussed that there is a limit to how much you can move. 300 rick has been his limit one year. He quit for a few years as the meth heads and unemployed were undercutting everyone but last year all his customers called him as they were tired of not getting a full rick.
The smoking wood deal always sounds good but very few seem to know how to get in that niche or are very tight lipped about it. Talked to a guy and he was doing the BBQ/Smoker deal, I would have to haul an hour to his yard, and stack it for him for $10 more per rick than hauling it to friends 1 mile from home. That isn't worth it by the time I figure fuel cost let alone time. | |
