Subject: RE: Detached garage or built on

Bullitt County Kentucky
I grew up in a house with an attached garage. After my wife and I got married, our first home had an attached garage. The one we live in now has a 2 car garage that's attached via a breezeway.

IMHO, I wouldn't ever consider another house WITH an attached garage. The breezeway is OK, but no more direct attached garages for me.

We've had exhaust fumes get sucked in the house. It was virtually impossible to go in or out of the garage with a car or truck without waking anyone sleeping in the house. Dirt had a way of ending up in the family room.

The breezeway gives us sort of an "air lock" to prevent smells, noise, dirt, etc from ending up in the house.

I'd venture a guess that an attached garage can ADD or SUBTRACT from a homes value, depending on the potential buyer. But, if you're gonna live there, I'd suggest "detached".....
