Subject: RE: attrazine size limit on corn

Tenn Valley
Having worked for the company that registered the original atrazine, atrazine use is about labeling & oversight of EPA. Remember, when atrazine was registered in the early 60's, implement size was 2 & 4 row cultivators. It is probably a belief of, "let's not do anything to the atrazine that brings EPA attention." There was a tremendous effort by EPA in the early '90's to revoke the registration of atrazine. Ciba-Geigy spent major dollars updating & validating old data to show how accurate the old late '50's data development was.

Yes - it would be a viable label for atrazine to be applied to 24" corn. However, it would take EPA, Syngenta, & EPA to sit around the table and agree to that. Please remember, EPA regulators are not necessarily agronomist.
