I think that's later than I ever planted oats as a nurse crop for alfalfa. Yield will depend a lot on fertilization. I never added nitrogen because I didn't want the oats to grow tall and fall over smothering the alfalfa seeding and I achieved 20 to 30 bushels per acre. With 100 pounds of N they probably would run over 100 bushel yield. I'm sure the available varieties vary considerably in their yield depending on their time to maturity and the size of the straw.

I know one field of oats and alfalfa was planted near here a week ago.
