WC MN | Seeing no mention of soil type in this thread leaves everyone talking in circles. This whole thread seems more focused on how to make ESN fail rather than using it as part of total N management. ESN or any N should be managed differantly according to soil type.
It would be inconcievable for a serious pivot guy on sand to put all his N done ahead of planting as ESN and then compare it to multiple applications of early urea followed by 28% thru the pivot. Common to see ESN top dressed on pivots and still be followed by multiple 28% applications thru pivot. Having used ESN since it came out I am very comfortable with top dressing corn with a mix of ESN, AMS and urea. Another application in clay soils is 2 x 2 placement of ESN without worrying about fertilizer burn. | |
