don't put too much thought into it, it just takes will power. Eat less and move more. Follow those 2 rules and you'll be off on the right track.

Walking is a good start, don't know how old or heavy you are, but I try to run 1.5 miles about 3 times a week while the weather is nice. Each spring I mostly walk a mile, start out jogging until I can't, then walk for a bit, then jog for a bit until I can eventually jog the whole distance at a decent clip.

I have fluctuated from 190 (high school) to 235 (college) to 190 (because i was still young and active enough) back to 235 (couple kids and too much soda pop and age 30 happened) Now I'm 34 and back to about 203 and trying to hold on. For me 80% of it is diet, I just have to make myself put the fork down, and it is HARD!

Edit: Should add I didn't have kids! my wife did, but the lack of sleep and added pop intake didn't help the weight for me. My wife keeps me motivated too she had the kids and looks as good as she did in high school, but she works her tail off on an eliptical machine and bicycling now. She eats a lot of crap junk food, but she says she works hard so she can! I can't argue with that.
