Clay,

The breeding method (Single Cross) etc. wouldn't necessarily give you stronger stalks this would depend on the parental lines used in the cross. I would use the local Universities information on final stand and yield info to make the decision or the seed company you are interested in buying from. They(the Seed Company) have more than likely had hundreds of reps of the hybrid grown to help determine suitability. They would probably have the most in-depth info about hybrid specifics such as stalk strength etc. Also see if you can get multi-year information some will excel in 2 out of 3 years and fall flat under certain adverse conditions.
