EC North Dakota | For many years we used April 23 as the earliest we would start. Would probably push that earlier but no chance with the weather the last few years. June 5th is the latest I've planted 82 day corn and still got a decent crop. Anything after May 5 is costing us.
Location, I'm near Fargo and plant 96 down to 79 day corn. Yield goal 210 down to 150 for the early stuff.
This cold really sucks! Pushes everything into a mad rush. How do you put nh3 on 5 days ahead if you can't drive on the field until may 10?
In the good old days, we would start wheat April 1, corn and beets 23rd, soybeans May 5, dry beans May 10 and sunflowers last. Now everything's gotta go in in 10 days. | |
