Subject: RE: Riverbottom Soybeans in VA

South-Central Virginia
The group 5's like the 5333 could get too tall, too early and lay down before the beans had fully filled. They seem to get tall on creek bottoms and sandier land. 4933 was very good last year but got tall. 4832 is very good but never planted on creek bottom(wish I had river bottom) but seems to stay shorter.

Might could try cutting back population to keep shorter. Don't plant before the end of May or first of June to keep height down. Cut them in October, hopefully before it gets wet (they pay the same for pods as beans).

Edit: I have never planted shorter than a 4.7 (trying some 4.6 pioneer T this year) I am not much help there, but a mid to early 4 may work good.
