Subject: Cover crop weed suppression , pics

North Central Indiana
Some cover crop pics that I thought were pretty interesting showing the weed suppression value of said cover crops. A little background. After wheat, a good friend of mine applied hog manure following last years wheat crop. After discing to level the ridges, I drilled cover crop on approximately 20 acre of the 40 acre field. That's all he wanted done. When done, I headed for the gate leaving the drill lowered. You can see the path. The 15' strip with the oats/radish/soybean cover crop is 99%weed free. Both sides of the strip are getting a really good stand of volunteer wheat, chickweed, dednettle, and dandelions. He's going to have to do a burndown spray except where there winter killed oats/radish were.
