Subject: RE: Deer n corn

Southern Ohio
This deer talk amazes me. I grow less than 100 acres with tons of deer pressure. Not much corn damage at all here but they sure put a hurtin on the beans. All fields are smaller and the largest field is 20 acres and all fields are surrounded by wooded areas. Outer two or threes rows had no ears, but I believe it was more from smaller critters and competition from the trees. Is your deer damage from eating plants/ears or destroying plants from other activities such as fighting or bedding? I'm NOT saying you are wrong by any means but I can't imagine deer destroying 100 out of 600 acres when my 70 ac +/- of corn went 185 bu with TONS of deer. Again, not saying you are wrong but it is hard for me to imagine HERE. The next closest corn field to me is at least 2 miles away also.
