Dills, FL | I like to let it pollenate then roll it flat and spray...then plant thru it while still green OR weeks later when its crispy straw. In between time its like leather and likes to wrap row cleaners and spiked closing wheels. Depending what you are planting nitrogen tie up can be a problem. I like to put 40 lb N with the planter on corn. I am in Florida so the rye straw helps with soil temperature, rain infiltration, and weed suppression. | |
