It depends on the time of year. I agree i dont always need to be driving a truck, but when i am out i never know if there is anything to haul back or who calls me when i am out. Also does the added expense of car really make sense to save a little bit of money on gas.

Lets just say i put 15,000 miles on a year, gas is 3.5, truck is 17 mpg, car 25 mpg

Truck
15000/17 = 882.35 gallons*3.5 = 3088.23

Car
15000/25 = 600 gallons*3.5 = 2100.00

price of that car
+
insurance

You guys tell me, would that be worth it?
