The 10's have more power but it is slower to kick in, when you throw the throttle forward it is more instant in the 00's. The late 00's shift about the same as a 10 and yes the seat in the old 00's is just not comfortable. I have the newer style seat in my 8400 for that reason. The 10's do burn more fuel and it is noticeable. IMO if you can find a 99 that is the tractor to have, you get the best of both. My 99 8400 has been worked to the max since I got it and is still running strong been pulling over 300hp since 1800hrs no issues yet with over 9000 hrs on it. Its the tractor that should've given up 4 years ago but just keeps going.
