the govt did get their hands on bout 1/4 million acres ( that's less than the Whole 1/3 of SE Colorado they tried for ).
as far as the govt supposedly needing more land ( the Original idea of land takings for Pinon Canyon ) to augment Ft Carson ( 100,000 acre site SW of Colo Springs ) that is pure horse pockey. MO
did it ever occur to the government they supposedly Own 87% of Whole States like Nevada?
