Well a few questions come to mind. When making balage the bales need to be tight, I mean tight. I have trouble stabbing and getting them off the spear.

Is your baler making soft core bales?

What stage was the wheat when you cut it? Long stemmy stuff, straw like, does NOT pack well.

What was the moisture? I had issues with really wet stuff molding, white mold. This year I put up most of my balage in the 40-55% range, some lower, and only have a issue here and there.

How many layers of plastic? Was it 1 mil or 1.5? I put on 10-12 layers of 1 mil and seems to work good. I have tried less put there was more problems.
