Subject: RE: wheat

King City, Mo
He is feeding the soil, not the crop.

Some in the fall, some in the spring.

Their is 1 million lbs of soil in 6" of an acre.

Plus things like K, Ca have a positive charge and the soil has a negative charge.

Ed also owns his ground so he can spend the going cash rent $$$ on fertilizer and still cash flow the year. Its sorta a stick theory math or "gross dollars" management to borrow a Garvo term.

Ed is shooting for +100bu wheat followed by 50bu dc nongmo beans and then a rye cover crop. So +$600/ac gross from the wheat, +$800 from the export beans. The rye will help build organic matter and scavenge any excess nutrients and help build the soil.

How are you fertilizing on your owned farmland?
