Some weeds have great genetic diversity, it apparently may help them to adapt fast, but mostly I suspect the low dosage that was recommended by Monsanto in the first years of R/R GMOs, and also all the weeds that were not sprayed directly in the field, but survived a low toxicity drift and mutated accordingly. Now each time you spray, you're basically reinforcing selection and making the weeds stronger!
