Between Omaha and Des Moines, 7 miles South of I80 | seedcleaner - 4/9/2014 13:18 Are the waterways functioning with water coming into them? If so, it will be more difficult. I suggest a skid loader or dirt scraper getting some grass dug up, layed in the ditch, and packed down to try and take hold. If not, take a scraper full of good soil and slowly drag and eject soil into the ditch. Pack it in and seed it. That's what we do, IF the waterway "edge" against the field is still good. Just take an ejection type dirt scraper, and slowly drive up the gully, filling it in with dirt, level as best as possible (or we leave the wing up, on a JD 220 disc, and lightly touch the top of new dirt) then seed it. Great thing about doing it this way, is that you never disturb the good sod and grass, that has already been established. I seen guys do this, and also put a few round bales, in the center, to slow down the water, IF a big rain comes. |
