Subject: Frozen seed corn left over from last year ( 2013 )

I messed up and forgot to bring in about 4 , 5 gallon buckets full of last years corn seed from cleaning out my planter last year. I had them in my Morton pole building, I usually store them in my shop till the next Spring but forgot about them.
I had sealed plastic lids on them, and the seed looks of same quality as when I dumped out of the original bag.

I am going to sample and count out about 100 seeds , and teach my kids about germination, and do a self test once...

My question is, with the severe cold we had this past Winter ( -20F ) outside, so I would say -10 or a little warmer inside the building ( not heated ) , will this be in any way detrimental to the germination or vitality of the plant ? FWIW it is Pioneer seed, and there might be a little NK and Dekalb mixed in as well....like I said clean out seed...

I would generally use this seed if I was just a little bit short at the end of planting, so I would not have to open a fresh bag of seed..
Would you use it for the same use this Spring ?

Any comments, ideas, or suggestions greatly appreciated ...

Thanks in advance

Rog
