Missouri | I hadn't thought of the frame. Depending on your planter model/frame, running new cables can be anything from simple, to a monumental task.
I think if I was going to put a battery on the planter, I'd use a single heavy cable. I would have a heavy cable grounding to the frame at the front, connecting to a cable that was grounded to the tractor. Then that one heavy line I would feed back to the implement battery, which would also be grounded to the planter frame. I would protect the large "battery link" positive cable with fusible link wire, at each end (near implement battery, and near tractor 12v power source.
Each device would then pull off the implement battery (which is being fed/charged by the battery link to the tractor), and would be fused properly for it's load, at the implement battery.
Fusible link wire at each end protects the "battery link" positive cable from a short, anywhere, and modules/systems fused at the point where they draw power from the implement battery protects them in the same manner as if they were fused on the display cable on the tractor.
