East Arkansas | In another thread, I believe it was one that was questioning net profit per acre goals it was mentioned that over the past few years farmers are farming more acres and investing more to arm each acre. My assessment is that this is true...I think farmers are making the same or less than they were years ago while supplier are making much more than they were as a percentage.
My gripe is all the extra fluff provided by the big companies, in this area many of the small service providers (custom applicators and consultants, reps) seem to be making the income that farmers do except that the farmers have many multiples of the investment these folks have.
I for one would like to consolidate a lot of these small suppliers, I don't mind them making money but come on they are employees. I think that this integration of well paid tasks is the next step in production ag. | |
