We have a Raven 440 in our sprayer and we have a Ag leader edge system for auto steer. We want to connect the raven through the Serial port to the edge for mapping only. We are not using the edge for flow control. All we want to do is when we turn the raven master switch on we want the edge to start mapping and when we shut it off we want the mapping to turn off on the edge. Any one have any ideas on how we can make this work??? thanks

I don't remember if the Edge can do serial with third party systems. The Insight and the Integra certainly can. An Application Rate module is needed. This module can be used for different purposes but one of them is to connect serial with certain other boxes. You would need the special cable from Ag Leader that goes with this box to the Raven 440.

The module needs to connect to the display via a CAN connection so depending on what you have you may not need any other cables. The Application Rate module does not require a high current power source like most other modules since it doesn't do any actual physical work of opening valves or anything.

When this is setup correctly the Raven and the Ag Leader exchange information both ways. The Target rate is sent from the Ag Leader to the Raven and the Raven's results are sent back to the Ag Leader so the Coverage Map and the Rate Map are correct. There are some settings on the Raven that must be setup properly for this communication to take place. Autoswath is not supported. The section shutoff would still need to be done manually on the Raven as before. The map will correctly reflect this.
