good question....

a group of crop consultants tried to convince everyone around here that they shouldn't plant within 48hrs. I don't buy that. to their point though, rain right after planting can create some of the biggest emergence risks.

what condition did you ground work up or are you planting into? if its an ideal seed bed and forgiving soil types - go for it. especially if its warm now, and warm in the forecast.

if your ground is no more than fit, its cooler, and its supposed to stay cool. then I would be more cautious. either that or ask for another rain right as its poking through!


I think they want you to wait if the rains will be colder than about 55°. Otherwise the crusting is the only other problem.
