As staed you need to know your local buyers. My uncle and cousin run a training barn for show and performance horses. They feed mostly straight alfalfa, they burn a lot of energy. The brood mares or my mother-in-laws pasture horses get straight grass, often from waterways and CRP. Anything better will just get them fat.
