Subject: RE: no till corn on corn and nitrogen management

NE Iowa
Mine gets some N from DAP and AMS application that is broadcast a month before planting. The balance of the N is broadcast after planting but before emergence as Agrotain treated urea. The Agrotain helps with volitilization. I spray pre / burndown off the planter and this year I'll be adding Instinct II nitrogen stabilizer to the spray mix. The Instinct is similar to N-serve and affects the bacteria in the ground to slow the N conversion process. I'm hoping this helps prevent the amount of N that could leach from excess rainfall after the urea application. The cost of the Agrotain and Instinct combined is less then the cost of using SuperU or ESN.
