Subject: RE: pelletized lime

Martinsville, Ohio

Pelletized lime is as good as the limestone it was made from.

Pelletizing adds at least 4 times the cost it would if you just applied the lime itself.  I see lime as a big soil amendment but I have used it to balance the acid in acid fertilizers and to make nutrients more available when I apply them.  This is usually short term rental ground but yes I have used it on my own ground.

There is dolomitic pellet lime which is popular, but there there is calcitic pellet lime, depending on where the lime came from.

Seek out what the source really is and go from there.

I have had good luck using pelletized lime but it all depends on where it came from and how I use it to balance the formulation I am spreading.
