I don't see how you can grow an organic watermelon unless there is varieties that don't get affected by fungus. They are neat to grow, sure are a high dollar crop but expensive and labor intensive. I think sweet corn is always a good choice. Blueberries will never go out of style. Okra too. You need to plant melons on raised plastic. Use a two row peanut digger to lift the plastic after harvest or buy one that will lift it. If you are selling to brokers they want small round seedless type, if you are fresh market they want the biggest and sweetest. 8ft row spacing and 4ft to 6ft plant spacing for big ones. You need to plant four rows then have a travel lane for harvest. I am no expert, just read the production guide and grew a half acre of them.
