northeastern Ohio | I remember a study from years ago that seemed to correlate planting rate of oats to yield at almost exactly 1 to 1. In other words, oats seeded at 100# per acre yielded 100 bushel while oats seeded at 50# yielded 50 bu. I can't find it and it was most likely done in Ohio, so it might not have much value to you. My memory might be fuzzy too, as this was probably 20 years ago.
Here is a study from ND: http://www.ag.ndsu.edu/archive/carringt/99data/oat_seeding_rate.htm
The study above used 3 seeding rates: 50, 66 and 82# per acre. Yields were 90, 98, and 103 respectively. That would give the following yield to seeding rate ratios: 1.80, 1.48, and 1.25. If we extrapolate, to 34#, then you would probably be in the 2.21 ratio, which would calculate out to 75 bu per acre range.
So I would guess that you would be at about 75% of your normal yield expectation at the 34# seeding rate, based upon the above ND study. Or as low as 50% based upon my recollection of the Ohio study.
