Subject: RE: Hydraulics on JD 2955

Embarrass WI
Clutch is not hydraulic.

It is operated with a master/slave cylinder. Master cylinder by the pedal-not connected to the hydraulic system at all. I have read that thy are prone to problems, but have never had an issue with the 2955 I have. Slave cylinder by the throwout bearing operating an ordinary dry clutch.

I did have to have the 2 speed unit resealed, it was leaking oil past somewhere inside but that's been long enough ago I don't recall the symptoms.

Edit-Only applies to a tractor with SGB or 4 post ROPS. Ours is a 4 post. Low profile would be mechanical linkage from the pedal, but still a dry clutch. Possible clutch disc came apart, or pressure plate failed.
