An Ag Leader, a raven 440/460, and serial rate control gives a system with all the capabilities of a complete DirectCommand system EXCEPT for one function. Swath Control/Autoswath. At least, as far as I have observed from running both.

You can:
1) Prescription rate/manually change target rate from the Integra
2) Log actual as applied rate
3) Map actual as applied coverage (including section indicators, and coverage stops mapping on boom sections that are manually shut off)
4) Produce application reports with the Integra.

I did it with Dad's spra coupe since I already had all the parts anyway, except for one $40 cable. 3 booms are not too much to switch manually, and now that the coverage map shows gaps when booms are shut off, you don't have to worry about accidental skips if you forget to turn a boom back on (provided you are checking the map).

All of the above is correct. Concerning the original post, the answer there is correct also. To tie a current Raven to an Ag Leader Application module requires the correct serial cable. There are two choices. The dealer got the wrong one. As stated besides the gender business some pins need to be tied together in the proper cable. With the proper diagram and parts a person could build one but it is not worth the effort. Just get the correct one from Ag Leader.

The only real downside to doing this is the lack of the Autoswath feature and cab clutter. An upside is that, if the Ag Leader is busy with some other task on another piece of equipment (Yield monitoring in the combine) the Raven can still run the system alone like it did in the past.

When setting up the two devices to work together the following are necessary: Get the proper cable. Set four items on the Raven box BAUD 9600, Data Logger ON, Data trigger unit 1, data interval SEConds (not ft). Information passes both ways. Sometimes from the Ag Leader to the Raven (desired target rate) and sometimes from Raven to the Ag Leader (boom sections ON, totals etc.) The Raven will still need a speed input as always. It does not get speed info from the Ag Leader.

In actual operation the target rate is sent from the Ag Leader to the Rate 1 register in the Raven. When the Raven receives a new rate it will beep four times (unless that alarm has been shut off) alerting the operator that a new rate has passed from the Ag Leader to the Raven. If the Raven is set to Rate 1 then it will attempt to apply that rate. The results from the Raven are sent back to the Ag Leader. If the Raven is set to Rate 2 then the target rate is the usual Rate 2 setting on the Raven.

Another option is to replace the Raven completely with Ag Leader's Direct Command system. This consists of a switch box and an outboard module called the Auxiliary Input Module or the newer switchbox which includes the AIM internally. Another module called the Liquid Product Module is also needed. This module takes in the flowmeter information and output signals to the control valve and boom section valves. With this you get all of the features above and can have autoswath for section control.
