My BIL had a 5020 with an 8V71.  One modification Kinze made to the transmission was sixth gear was welded to the mainshaft.  It was originally held in place by a snap ring, and the extra horsepower put enough pressure on the helical cut gear that the gear would shear the snap ring off and slide down the shaft as the spiral teeth unscrewed from each other.
