I always thought the 318 was the 6-53 Detroit engine.

The 6V-53 is 318 Cubes but no where near 318 HP 6-71 426 cubs 71 cubes per cylinder.. 53 cubes per cylinder 92 cubes per cylinder ect. They were called Naturals with blower only.. some times they put a turbo on top of the Blower then a 8-V71 was 375 HP or more
They made some screaming 6-V53 with Turbos and even after-coolers too. |
