| It sounds like your business line was established in a different geographic area then where you're currently located. If this is correct, then US Cellular is correct, they do not have to port your number. The FCC calls it "local number portability" with local being key. In my opinion, it's to keep desirable numbers, that are in short supply, in the loop by not allowing a former resident of say, Manhattan, NY from always having that Manhattan Area and Exchange code. Obviously, if that subscriber never changes Carriers they will always keep their number. It's also a failed attempt at keeping some semblance to the North American Numbering Plan, but that has pretty much went out the window. | |
