I use it all the time to look up doc or remote emails on my office computer. Intential carbonite backup can take a few days but once it's done carbonite will just mark what's been changed and periodically through the day back up those changed files.
Carbonite marks each file with a little yellow or green dot. Yellow has not been backed up green has.
"Cloud" HD backup services?
