NW Illinois Stephenson county | She might have had a heart attack. Many years ago when our cows were pastured, part of it was across the creek. When it flooded the water was 12-14' above the creek bed. We would call them, and after a little bit they would jump in and sometimes float down stream with the current 100-200' and then splash through 3-5' deep water on their way home with no problems. I think someone on Agtalk posted a u-tube video a few years ago about some farmer in England whose milk cows had to swim across a canal to their pasture in the morning and then back again at night for evening milking. Maybe she just over exerted herself ? I found a dry cow years ago in a bedded shed that I thought was just sleeping, but must have died in her sleep. Reguardless it sucks! |
