It may be spring by the calendar but if you look at the temperature graph at the bottom of this page things look very much below normal here for the rest of March at least. And here is the same graph for Northern Illinois. It looks very much the same: below normal temperatures for the rest of March at least. Couple this with a deeper frost than normal and I think it is going to be a late spring, at least temperature wise. I am very thankful for the hay shed. It and the silage bag have cut my hay usage per head about in half from last year. It is nice having a hay cushion rather than running out as I did last spring. There seemed to be a lot of hay moving through town on trailers today. The pack outside the hay shed is mostly manure and bedding I put out under the eaves on some of the -30F windy nights. Jim
