Missouri | It's not much air by mass, but it can be tremendous by volume. 1 CFM of air at 150 psi expands to 10 times it's volume when dumped out to atmospheric pressure. Valves wide open represents a pressure change to probably near 1 atmosphere. A compressed air line could easily dump 10 cfm through there, expanding to 100 cfm past the last air coupler. 100 cfm is the volumetric equivalent of 748 gallons per minute.
I would imagine compressed air is ok for leak checking, with the valves closed, there shouldn't be much flow. | |
