All too many structures ------- sole proprietorships thru C corps------- are set up willy nilly...........mostly by those who have no more tax knowledge than how to fill out a tax form, mostly correctly.

Be advised that there is.....again..... a push in Congress to subject the entire earnings of an S to self employment taxes.
