Hagen Brothers farms,Goodrich ND | Check the /regulator plug for constant full battery voltage at the #2 terminal. Also scrape clean the flat regulator blades in the alternator with a small screwdriver or knife blade. For some unknown reason, those regulator blades are unplated steel, and will rust if exposed to rain/weather on an exposed tractor engine. Rust on the regulator #2 blade can make a poor connection where the regulator senses system voltage, and will cause the alternator to charge well above a normal 14.2 volts. If corroded plug terminals are the problem, after you get it clean/working right, fill the plug terminals with the insulating and corrosion preventing grease you can get at a boat shop. This stuff is made for light wiring exposed to water like boat lights and boat trailer lights. It does a good job of keeping water out and terminal shiny and making a good connection.
