All depends on what your pulling, how tight of a radius turn the tractor can make, and how much of an angle the headlands are on in different areas of the field. I only do 2 if I can get by that way. For steep angled headlands 3 will probably be ideal maybe even 4 to give the machine enough room to perform its turn around.
