Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | The Insight is now on version 9.1. I would advise updating. Depending on what you want to do there may or may not be any real advantages. You may be doing steering only but that doesn't matter. I have two Insights unlocked for steering and have continually updated them as new versions come out.
There is some truth in "If it ain't broke don't fix it" that often applies to firmware updates. With certain companies it is sometimes best to wait it out but I have had no problems with the Version 9.1 update.
