Thinking about getting into the autosteer world. 2 main applications will be planting corn with JD 8000 w/ 16 row 3pt planter and harvesting beans with JD 9600 w/ 30' platform. We have our ground custom strip-tilled in the fall (coop using RTK, I think), and we just follow the strips in the spring (no markers on planter). I may be able to get the coop's guidance lines, but even if I can't, I would think I could setup new lines that would track theirs pretty close. 90% of our rows are straight. We harvest beans on the angle, so just looking to minimize overlap. I can get into a used EZ-Steer 500 & EZ-Guide 500 w/ OmniStar unlock for $5K. Or it looks like I can get into a new OnTrac2 w/ a used Edge monitor - not sure about receiver and unlocks - but I am guessing that will be $7500, or so. For those of you that have done this, is it worth popping for the extra $$ to get the OnTrac system vs. the EZ-Steer?
