Probably need an accelerator peddle position sensor. Common problem, expensive part. I would look around on the Dodge Cummins forums to find a good quality aftermarket APP at a reasonable price. Some of the aftermarket ones are poor quality, have heard the factory ones aren't much better. Not difficult to change yourself.
