Sounds like a load sense problem. You may need to ask your Trimble guy where he tied his in. He might have to put it in somewhere else. Had a deal like this once and ended up putting the tractor back to the way it was before and using a shuttle tee to the my load sense in
I'm thinking Load Sense also as I had a problem along this line on my own.
I have a Trimble Nav II connected to external steering valves on my non-steer ready Deere 8120. This was installed and appeared to work properly. When I got to the first field with my Vac Planter, I tried planting the ends without engaging the auto-steer. I was fitting the steering system even in manual. I stopped on the end and the front wheels were moving back and forth on their own. In desperation, I disconnected the external steering valves by unhooking the Weather pak connectors leading to the external valves. This did not change the situation. Shutting off the Vac to the planter did help.
One thought was that debris had entered the system when the install was done although the area was cleaned quite thoroughly. Long story short - the load sense had been connected to the wrong port atop the tractor's SCV valve stack. One port is labelled LS but it actually points to a different port. Apparently the steering worked OK when other hydraulics were not being used but oil returned internally and caused havoc internally when a test port was used for the Load sense line instead of the correct one.
Moving the load sense line to the proper port cured the problem. This turned out to be very simple but was frustrating in the meantime. The steering has worked well for several years. |
