Amherst WI | I don't want to sound doom and gloomy but like others have already said this is a huge capitol type business. How many 25 year olds have 30-40% down payment to buy enough land to make a living on sitting in the bank? Reasonably priced rental ground doesn't sit on Craigslist for months on end with nobody wanting it.
As a look back at what I have I often wonder if I would have been better off buying land instead of iron and hiring the work done or even rent some of it out if people want to pay stupid prices for it.
I don't think those of you with "your old man bitching at you all the time" understand what a conveinece it is to be able to rent his stuff or just plain old use it is worth to you. I work off farm, mother hen now stays home with Jr, we're not struggling by any means (but it hasn't always been easy either) but other than the balance sheet, savings, and retirment account looking better every year it doesn't seem like we have much to show for it either. It's espiecally hard to look at other 20-30 somethings buying land, machinery, new houses and whatever, BUT they have a lot of help from the prior generations though too and I am not saying that is always a walk in the park either or they haven't earned it because that has it's own set of challenges too. | |
