nw NC | A few years ago we searched through our chest type freezer and found a few packages that were 16 or 17 years old. I told my wife to cook it. We had it for lunch during silage harvest. Guys said it was best roast beef they ever ate. A package of ground beef was off flavor so it was discarded. I understand that the fat content of ground beef is what develops the off flavor. Lean, chunky type roasts and thick steaks should be good for a lot of years provided the are packaged and sealed well. This beef was a Holstein cow. | |
